Advanced Technology is seeking an Associate Director Engineering Manager to lead the Communication and Navigation Systems’ Communication & EW Systems team. This role will provide leadership for a team of highly innovative engineers in the invention, development, and demonstration of new communication and electronic warfare (EW) concepts and capabilities. This challenging position will entail leading development of cutting-edge solutions that can quickly go from concept, to field demonstration, to fielded product. The applicant must be creative, highly self-motivated, have strong interpersonal, communication skills, and demonstrated customer focus. Prior experience leading research and development activities in advanced communication and EW systems is highly desirable.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the design and development of advanced communications/EW systems

  • Develop innovation strategies via collaboration with external agencies, internal customers and partner organization

  • Collaborate with product development personnel across Mission Systems and RTX to set strategic direction and recommend projects for independent research & development (IR&D)

  • Ability to brief senior leadership both internally and externally

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple efforts simultaneously

  • Identify and lead team members through pursuit, order, capture activities targeting organizations such as DARPA, ONR, C5ISR, AFRL, ARL, etc.

  • Develop internal and external networks, forging relationships with peers within Mission Systems Engineering, Business Development, and Value Stream leadership.

  • Plan, organize and supervise the activities of a team of engineers

  • Responsible for oversight of the execution of externally funded programs and IR&D projects, striving for 100% customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain awareness of technology and Mission Systems competitive position

  • Up to 10% travel

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Hands-on experience in communications systems design

  • In-depth knowledge of physical layer design and simulation tools for software defined radio

  • Operational knowledge of techniques required to develop systems for operation in contested environments

  • Experience in platform integration and field demonstrations

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
