Role Overview:
Competitive Intelligence plays a vital role in sustaining and accelerating growth of Rockwell Collins Government Systems. The Competitive Analysis Specialist position is a high visibility position working directly with internal stakeholders to raise awareness of competitive intelligence, identify and manage competitive intelligence needs, and deliver value-added, actionable deliverables.
Primary responsibilities include:

Perform research on a wide range of competitive intelligence topics, provide analysis and present findings to stakeholders (e.g., pursuit teams or portfolio leadership)

Connect competitive trends and events to key intelligence topics to inform development of business and pursuit strategies/positioning
-
Work closely with domestic and international stakeholders to identify and manage intelligence requirements related to competitors and specific pursuits

Support development and management of the tools, processes and systems used for the collection, storage and distribution of competitive intelligence and supporting documentation including, but not limited to, company overviews, marketing brochures and financial reports
Required Capabilities and Skills:
-
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.

Ability to work independently, natural curiosity about competitors, and the ability to influence decision-making without direct authority

Outstanding analytical skill: Must be able to quickly synthesize primary and secondary research into a cohesive competitive analysis that can be clearly communicated to a wide range of internal customers

Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on a mix of hard facts, anecdotal information and assumptions

Ability to actively engage with a wide variety of internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, program management, etc.) to enable more efficient and effective information sharing

Ability to understand and articulate how a competitor’s position and strategy impacts both a specific pursuit and the broader portfolio strategy

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to all levels of the organization

Strong understanding of the principles of competitive strategy and competitive advantage

Experience with collaboration tools (e.g., Sharepoint, Salesforce)

Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Powerpoint
-
Understanding of Rockwell Collins’ business acquisition process a plus

Cedar Rapids is the preferred location but there is potential to work out of other Collins Aerospace locations
